Luna Azul, which translates to “blue moon,” is a distinctive Colombian coffee produced by Andrés Cardona and named for its rich flavor profile that evokes notes of purple fruits and dark chocolate. Grown at high altitude in Santa Bárbara, Antioquia, this lot showcases the care and expertise of a producer deeply rooted in his craft.
This coffee is processed using a black honey method: after cherries are hand-picked and selected for ripeness, they undergo a week of aerobic fermentation in open tanks while still in cherry. It’s then depulped without water to retain as much mucilage as possible, enhancing sweetness and depth in the cup. The beans are slowly dried on raised beds for up to three weeks—depending on weather—until they reach optimal moisture levels.
